In most families, babies and toddlers tend to get monthly photo shoots and all kinds of home video screen time. (I have hours of video footage of my oldest child almost rolling over. It’s riveting.) Once kids start growing out of the tiny person phase, however, their photo shoots become few and far between. (Weird selfies they take when they steal your phone don’t count.) I think that’s one of the reasons eight year old baptism portrait sessions are so special for my clients. For many of these kids, it’s the first time they’ve had a photo shoot all about them in a long time. For most of the boys, it’s their first time wearing a suit or getting a set of scriptures with their name on it. Getting baptized is a big step towards maturity and I can see a sense of pride in the eyes of every one of my young models. I’ve photographed this handsome boy with his family many times, but this was the first photo shoot just for him. By the looks of things, he was pretty happy to have his moment.
