Ruthie’s Newborns {Low Light In-Home Portrait Session}

One of the great pleasures of my job is going into a family’s home just after a baby has arrived. It is such a sweet experience and I’m always so honored that I can be there to document this special family time. One of the great challenges of my job is that every home has different lighting. Some homes have white walls and windows galore in a North/South facing lot. Other homes have a few small windows, dark walls, and a East/West facing lot in the woods.

I know there are many people out there who would love an in home newborn portrait session, but don’t think their home is picture perfect. The truth is very few homes are entirely picture perfect. (Especially homes with a newborn baby. Survive and advance, new parents!) To those of you living in dark apartments in the woods I say, “I got you.”

Last month I had the privilege of photographing baby Ruthie and her parents in their basement apartment. Light was very minimal, but I think we still were able to capture the joy of those first few days of life with a newborn.

So if your home doesn’t seem ideal for an in home portrait session, don’t despair! I will find the light, or bring it myself! I got you. Book now!
